Michael Wachtler - News
Unesco World Natural Heritage Dolomites
Michael Wachtler will explain just what it is that makes the
Dolomiti Alps so unique. In the Braies Range, he discovered a
previously unexplored fossilized world. Dozens of unknown
plants, reptiles, and fish have been unearthed so far. Some of
these findings are described in the documents that helped
convince UNESCO experts of the area’s unique nature.

Dolomythos, the museum of the Dolomites in San Candido. A big
success.
From year to year Dolomythos increases its attendance. A
particularly positive influence constitutes the community with the
gold-digger village Heiligenblut and the treasury of the Tauern in
Austria as well as the unity of the four South Tyrolean treasuries.
(Crystalles in Coldrano, Teiser Kugeln in Tiso, Geoparc in
Aldino-Redagno, Dolomythos in San Candido).
Gold from an enormous finding
The largest gold deposit found in the Alps
It were brought to light by Michael Wachtler, the twins Mario and
Lino Pallaoro, Federico Morelli and Georg Kandutsch in Valle
d’Aosta. 20 kg gold could be found. Basing their search on old
claims, this team of 5 gold hunters succeeded in bringing to light
one of the most lucrative gold lodes using avant-garde technology.
Findings like these prove that amazing discoveries can still be made
even today.

Treasures of nature.
Two nature lovers, Carinthian mineralogist and
philosopher Dr. Georg Kandutsch and writer/movie
producer Michael Wachtler from Upper Adige, are bound by
their desire to share the nature and culture of the Alps
with everyone. They show us the best that the region has
to offer: crystals, fossils and gold. Culture through
the centuries. These treasures are not found in
conventional museums. Throughout their lives, the two
adventurous researchers have travelled these mountains
discovering unique features.
